Subject: Wind Turbines
Dear Sir/ Madam,
Let us first introduce ourselves. Orion is a club established in Greece by a group of hunters that would like to promote ethical hunting in accordance with generally environmentally and wildlife friendly acts.
During the last years in our country there is a booming expansion of wind-turbine usage. We are a bit skeptic about this “environmentally friendly” source of energy. Although they are certainly a zero emission source of energy, wind-turbines tend to occupy extensive areas on hill/ mountain ridges, possibly affecting migratory birds routs. Therefore, beyond the aesthetic problem, we fear possible massacres of migratory birds in these areas. Moreover there are rumors about the effect of low-frequency noise on birds and mammals in the areas surrounding the turbines.
Since in your country you have significant experience of wind-turbines over a long period, we would like to ask you if you are aware about any studies covering these topics and how we could have access to them.
Thanking you in advance for your cooperation,
With king regards,
The President M.Fakiolas |
The Secretary-General N.Papaioannou |
